BigIdeaAuthors.com to be Spearheaded by Scalzi

Firstly, let me apologize for not posting this yesterday, I would have but I somehow deleted it at my workplace.
It’s harder than ever to get published today. The fact is not only are less books being published today, but less people are buying books overall (not because they don’t enjoy reading but because people today are being especially frugal with the current state of the economy). Added to this dilemma is the fact that first time authors get very little money allocated towards marketing and publicity from publishers. That’s why I always stress the importance of promoting yourself in addition to improving your writer’s craft.
So when I got word that John Scalzi was becoming the executive editor of a new website entitled Big Idea Authors (http://bigideaauthors.com/), set to launch April 20th, sufficed to say I was a little more than excited. The “Big Idea” originated on Scalzi’s ‘Whatever’ blog where he promotes authors’ books with reviews and news. The blog, which reportedly receives 40,000 hits a day, and been a vital resource for burgeoning authors trying to make it in the publishing industry.
The webiste is set to include author interviews, essays, reader-engaging content, publishing features, essentially according to the site: “the cornerstone of an online literary site designed to inform readers about new books, entertain them through author essays, appearances and interviews, and motivate them to buy new books and discuss them with friends and acquaintances.”
I’m very excited and will keep a close key on the site as news gets updated.
