Dark Knight Receives 8 Oscar Nominations

This was probably no surprise to anyway once the actual Oscar nominations were released last week but the Dark Knight was nominated for a slew of Oscars, eight in total with the most significant going to Heath Ledger for the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category.  While the other seven nominations go towards the artistic and technical categories what is notable are the awards that the Dark Knight did not get nominated for.  These include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Score, and Best Costume Design.

It should also be noted that in comparison to previous few, this year was an exceptional year for film and no doubt that every nominee in the best picture/director category deserves to be on that list. That being said I really think Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard.

Overall though, the Dark Knight deserves the kudos it has coming to it and will no doubt will several awards at this year’s Oscars. You’ve done it again Nolan.
