Daybreakers Trailer Now Live

It seems vampires are all the rage these days (Twilight, Underworld, I am Legend, just to name a few) and while I’m not beating down on those that wish to follow a particular trend it’s easy to see how an entertainment market can become oversaturated and clichéd with studios trying to get their piece of the pie.

So you can understand why I am absolutely floored by the new Daybreakers trailer, a film that in terms of the genre is probably one of the most original concepts I’ve seen in a while. It goes something like this, in 2019 a plague turns much of the world’s population into vampires and with fewer humans to supply the demand for blood (as most remaining humans are harvested for it) the world has but a few weeks before the supply dries up completely and descends into chaos.

The film stars such notables as Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, and Sam Neill and will be released by Lionsgate towards the beginning of next year (January 8, 2010). Whoever edited the trailer for this film hit the nail square on the head, but honestly the film looks fantastic. Do yourself a favour and click the trailer below.
