Dexter Season 4 Preview, It’s Killer

Dexter is currently one of the hottest shows on HBO/Showtime. Over the past three seasons we’ve seen its audience grow steadily as a result of its gripping storylines, intriguing characters, and the mysterious past surrounding the lead character, Dexter Morgan, played by Six Feet Under star, Michael C. Hall.

While the amount of footage shown at this year’s Comic-con was impressive, I don’t think anyone expected to see a preview of the upcoming fourth season set to debut on September 27, 2009.

So what do we know about the fourth season? Well, without ruining the trailer too much for you (warning, spoiler alerts) we do know that John Lithgow is confirmed for the fourth season of Dexter where he plays the role of a prolific serial killer known as the “Trinity Killer”–as he kills in threes– and leads an unassuming double life similar to Dexter’s, after the Trinity Killer decides suddenly to relocate to Miami it is up to Dexter to stop him before he can commit any more acts of violence.

But for all this excitement, you came to this post to see the preview and so without further ado, here it is below.

Unfortunately, Dexter is a show that has really run it’s course and now it’s being milked far beyond it’s lifespan. Dexter started out as a socially-retarded serial killer who had an emotionally scarred girlfriend purely for image sake, he had no real friends, he had no way of being intimate with another human being, etc. Over the seasons, he’s developed true friendships, learned how to be actually social, and now he’s gotten married to his long-time girlfriend. It seems that he has no real reason to maintain his serial killer ways, the show should have ended with Dexter and Rita getting married and Dexter being able to give up his anti-social problems.

Of course, you don’t make money that way. The other problem is that all of the seasons of Dexter follow the same premise. New serial killer comes to town, someone finds out Dexter’s secret, Dexter has to find some way, within his code, to kill that person and protect himself. Lather, rinse, repeat. Looks like this season is just going to be more of the same.

I’m glad I still watch this show–it turns out this season is possibly the best one to date. Don’t give up too soon Cephus, this show is still one of the best written/acted/produced shows on television.
