Lying to people to get laid sounds like a really bad idea which is at least as likely to get you beat up and/or banned from a convention.

Pointers like &quot;shower daily&quot; and &quot;listen when the other person talks&quot; may seem obvious, but are sufficiently uncommon (among males who are both straight and still single) as to be useful. 

Gaming and comic conventions may still be mostly male, but I do not recall going to a science fiction convention that did not have at least one-third female membership, and often the women outnumber the men. (So picking the right convention is also a useful tip.)</description>
