Ice Age and Transformers Tops this Week’s Box Office

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was the leader in box office sales this week with the film taking in a reported $42.3 million last week, a 61% drop from the previous week. Not far behind was Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs with roughly $41.7 million after five days of being released. Taking the third, fourth and five spots respectively are Public Enemies ($25 million), The Proposal ($12 million), and The Hangover ($11 million). It should also be noted that Pixar’s Up took the sixth place slot after more than five weeks on the chart. Since then it has grossed a total of $265 million.
y183743273311272According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen reached $300 million domestically (U.S. and Canada) this week making it the first movie this year to do so. This event, however, coincided with its overseas box office sales which also hit $300 million, making the film’s total box office gross well passed the $600 million mark.
