“Impact” Trailer

You ever wonder why movies, shows, and miniseries hire science fiction authors for a lot of their creative consulting work? It’s because most of the time they know the science behind the fiction. Now I’m not a scientist, in fact the furthest I ever got was 12th grade physics and that was enough, however, watching the latest trailer for the miniseries “Impact” (set to take place on June 22 on ABC) I couldn’t help but notice a few things. The miniseries revolves around an asteroid that comes into contact with the moon. That’s really all that needs to be said. I don’t want to ruin trailer for you. But the movie stars such notables as Natasha Henstridge, David James Elliott, and James Cromwell.
The trailer starts out okay and you start to think “Oh, this is pretty good”, however, that feeling is short lived as the trailer nears 1′45 that you begin to start stracthing your head. A note to ABC, hire good creative consultants before you decide to make a film like this.

I really enjoyed this 2 part mini series. Of course, we have to keep in mind that events can occur on TV that may not be possible in reality. That is the wonder of entertainment and that is what it is supposed to do–transfer us out of reality in into a realm of make believe. I enjoyed the fact that it also portrayed the lives of the characters away from the scientic aspect. I also enjoyed the end especially when Dr. Kittner was reunited with his children who would otherwise been orphaned.
