<p>The nominees for the 2009 Chesley Award were recently announced and the list is impressive. For those unaware of this award, the Chelseys are given for excellence in science fiction and fantasy art or illustration. The award began in 1985 and is run by the Association for Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists (ASFA). The award was named after the artist Chesley Bonestell after his death in 1986 and are present at the World Science Fiction Convention.<br />

Nevertheless, since there are many commonalities between the two genres and both are inclusive to all readers I thought people would be genuinely interested.<br />

The Mythopoeic Awards for literature and literary studies are given by the <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Mythopoeic Society" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythopoeic_Society">Mythopoeic Society</a></strong> to authors of outstanding works in the fields of myth, fantasy, and the scholarly study of these areas. The winners of this year&#8217;s awards will be announced during Mythcon XL to be held from July 17-20, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.<br />
