<strong></strong><br />
When <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Robert Jordan" rel="homepage" href="http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/">Robert Jordan</a></strong> passed away more than a year-and-a-half ago it left a hole in the hearts of the fans and readers of his popular ‘Wheel of Time’ series. While Jordan was slated to continue his series, his untimely death due to a rare blood disease stopped any more books from being produced, at least for a time. Jordan, however, was an extensive notetaker and when the decision of which writer would complete the twelfth and final book of the series came to fruition, Jordan’s widow and editor, Harriet Popham Rigney, choose <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Brandon Sanderson" rel="homepage" href="http://www.brandonsanderson.com">Brandon Sanderson</a></strong> for the task.<br />
<strong></strong><br />
Sanderson, who stated that Jordan was an inspiration to him as a writer, has gained notoriety in fantasy circles despite having a limited number of novels published. These include <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Elantris" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/Elantris-Brandon-Sanderson/dp/0765311771%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dsciwat-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0765311771">Elantris</a></strong>, <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="Mistborn" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html%3FASIN=0765360969%26tag%3Dsciwat-20%26lcode=xm2%26cID=2025%26ccmID=165953%26location=/o/ASIN/0765360969%253FSubscriptionId=0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82">Mistborn</a></strong> and the <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, Book 2)" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/Well-Ascension-Mistborn-Book/dp/0765356139%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dsciwat-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0765356139">Well of Ascension</a></strong>, all of which are published under the Tor imprint. Now for avid followers of the ‘Wheel of Time’ series is nothing new, ‘A Memory of Light’, the final novel in the series is scheduled for publication this fall.<br />
<strong></strong><br />
However, news hit yesterday that ‘A Memory of Light’ will be split into a 3-book trilogy weighing in at a monstrous 800,000 words. The first book in the trilogy, entitled ‘The Gathering Storm’, will be book twelve in the ‘Wheel of Time’ series and will be the first of the three novels to the bestselling fantasy epic published over a two-year period.<br />
<strong></strong><br />
Harriet McDougal said on the process behind <a class="zem_slink" title="A Memory of Light" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Memory_of_Light">A Memory of Light</a>: “The scope and size of the novel was such that it could not be contained in a single volume, It was a piece of marvellous good fortune that Brandon Sanderson undertook the work. He is a great pleasure to work with, as well as a wonderful writer.”<br />
<strong></strong><br />
To date the ‘Wheel of Time’ series has sold over 14 million copies in North American and over 30 million copies worldwide with translation into 28 languages. The last four books in the series were all #1 New York Times bestsellers. <a class="zem_slink" title="Universal Studios" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Studios">Universal Pictures</a> acquired the movie rights to <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="The Wheel of Time (Boxed Set #1)" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html%3FASIN=0812538366%26tag%3Dsciwat-20%26lcode=xm2%26cID=2025%26ccmID=165953%26location=/o/ASIN/0812538366%253FSubscriptionId=0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82">The Wheel of Time</a></strong> in August 2008, and currently plan to adapt <strong><a class="zem_slink" title="The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time, Book 1)" rel="amazon" href="http://www.amazon.com/Eye-World-Wheel-Time-Book/dp/0312850093%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dsciwat-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0312850093">The Eye of the World</a></strong> as the first movie.<br />
