What’s the Plan Behind Battlestar’s ‘The Plan’?

With the release of the two minute teaser trailer for Battlestar’s ‘The Plan’ I thought it would be a good idea to do a post on what we know about this made-for-TV movie set to air this November. ‘The Plan’ is a two-hour premiere event set in the Battlestar Galactica universe. Now before you start thinking they’re just milking whatever’s left of this franchise for what it’s worth or that the Sci-fi Channel (or is it Syfy Channel) is just quenching our thirst as we wait for Caprica to run new episodes, think again.

If you’re anything like myself the first time you heard that they were doing a Battlestar Galactica made for TV movie you thought, “How could they possibly do a movie from where the series ended?” However, the movie is the furthest thing from the sort. Basically ‘The Plan’, which is also directed by Edward James Olmos, recounts the events of the entire four seasons of Battlestar Galactica, from the destruction of the Twelve Colonies to the series finale more or less entirely from the Cylon’s point of view.

Now yes, this is an excuse to get people who haven’t been interested in the show to pick up the series, and yes, the two-hour movie will be a mixture of newly filmed material and a compilation of clips from previous episodes, but if you’re a die-hard fan of the Battlestar Galactica series, than you won’t want to miss what ‘The Plan’ has in store.

Looking back on the series, you’d think it’d be easy to take down the Colonial Fleet, considering the humans had no idea who the twelve models were in the beginning of the series. Anyway, here’s the trailer below for your enjoyment.
